IWLCA Division III Final Poll (June 10, 2010)
The Gettysburg College women's lacrosse team locked down the fourth position in the final installment of the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll released on Thursday, June 10.
Each of this spring's four national semifinalists held spots in the poll's top four with champion Salisbury University (21-1) sweeping all 20 first-place votes en route to No. 1. Runner-up Hamilton College (21-1) finished second with 380 total points, while Centennial Conference members Franklin & Marshall (16-4) and Gettysburg (18-4) closed the year third (355 points) and fourth (337 points), respectively.
Gettysburg maintained a top-10 standing in the poll throughout 2010, ranking as high as No. 2 and as low as No. 7. The Bullets ranked among the top five in each of the final four releases. Impressively, the Bullets' 2010 schedule included nine of the 20 schools ranked by the IWLCA. Gettysburg finished 6-4 in those games with losses to No. 1 Salisbury, No. 3 F&M, No. 5 TCNJ, and No. 19 Middlebury College and wins over F&M, No. 8 Trinity (Conn.) College, No. 10 Babson College, No. 12 University of Mary Washington, No. 15 Catholic University, and No. 18 Elizabethtown College.
Gettysburg closed the year with an 18-4 overall record, including 9-0 in the CC, and made its fourth appearance in five seasons in the Division III semifinals. The Bullets lost 10 talented seniors to graduation; however, Head Coach
Carol Cantele will welcome back a group of 20 experienced letterwinners and a bevy of newcomers in 2011.
