Laxers Three-peat as Academic Squad

Gettysburg earns academic honors from the IWLCA

The Gettysburg College women's lacrosse team was named an Academic Squad for the third consecutive year by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) according to an announcement by the organization on Friday, August 13.

Gettysburg was one of 64 NCAA Division III institutions to be recognized by the IWLCA for achievements made away from the playing field. To be selected as an Academic Squad, a team had to maintain a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the most recent academic year. The three schools with the highest GPAs earned Merit Squad status and those institutions were Bates College, Washington & Lee University, and Vassar College.

Gettysburg was one of 13 Academic Squads to earn a trip to the 2010 NCAA Championships.

The Bullets turned in another banner season in 2010, finishing with an 18-4 overall record, including 9-0 in the Centennial Conference. Gettysburg advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons and the team made its fourth trip in five years to the national semifinals.
