GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg clawed its way past Bryn Mawr in the final two sets to pull off a 3-0 victory in its Centennial Conference volleyball opener. The Bullets were upended in Saturday's finale 3-0 by Div. II Alderson-Broaddus.

Gettysburg (5-7, 1-0 CC) won the first set against Bryn Mawr (2-5, 0-1 CC) 25-15, but the Bullets trailed in each of the final two frames. The Owls jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the second set before Gettysburg battled back and closed with the final three points in a 25-23 victory. The hosts had to pull off the same feat to end the finale as junior Jamie Huffman (Laurel, Md./Reservoir) polished off the win with back-to-back kills in a 25-23 decision.

Senior Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) and freshman Courtney Cyr (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) each posted 10 kills against Bryn Mawr, while Huffman and freshman Marcela Pallete (Winnetka, Calif./Notre Dame) each posted five kills.

Sophomore Katie Wilson (Gaithersburg, Md./Covenant Life) posted a pair of service aces and six digs and junior libero Rebecca Rubenstein (Bedford Hills, N.Y./Fox Lane) logged 19 digs.

After dispatching Bryn Mawr in straight-sets, Alderson-Broaddus (6-6) did the same to the Bullets later Saturday afternoon. The hosts held a late lead in the third set before the Battlers bounced back to close out a 25-20, 25-21, 26-24 victory.

Junior Virginia Hogan (Alpharetta, Ga./Chattahoochee) posted 10 kills and 11 digs to lead the Bullets. Freshman Sarah Gorski (Darien, Conn./Darien) had nine kills and six block assists.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 22, with a road trip to Haverford College. The Bullets will face the Fords at 5 p.m. before closing the night against nationally-ranked New York University.
