Diplomats Take Down Bullets 3-1

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall College kept pace atop the Centennial Conference standings by downing visiting Gettysburg College 3-1 Wednesday evening.

Gettysburg (9-10, 1-2 CC) took the opening match 27-25, but Franklin & Marshall (13-4, 2-0 CC) rebounded thanks in large part to its offense which registered a .311 attack percentage at the end of the four-set affair, taking the final three contests 25-18, 25-16, and 25-10. The Diplomats remained tied with fellow unbeatens Johns Hopkins University and Haverford College at the top of the Centennial standings.

Senior Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) and junior Virginia Hogan (Alpharetta, Ga.,/Chattahoochee) each tallied eight kills for the Bullets, while freshman Sarah Gorski (Darien, Conn./Darien) logged seven kills and a pair of blocks.

Junior Rebecca Rubenstein (Bedford Hills, N.Y./Fox Lane) led the defensive effort with nine digs and sophomore Katie Wilson (Gaithersburg, Md./Covenant Life) posted eight digs. Freshman setter Lizzy Kuhn (Wilmington, Del./Archmere Academy) dished out 24 assists.

Gettysburg returns to the court on Saturday, Oct. 2, for a tri-match with Ursinus College and St. Mary's (Md.) College. The Bullets and Bears open the day with a conference tilt at 11 a.m.
