FROSTBURG, Md. – The Frostburg State University volleyball team kept its perfect record intact at the expense of visiting Gettysburg College as the Bobcats handed the Bullets their third consecutive setback on Wednesday night.
Coming off a 30-5 season, Frostburg (6-0) showed no signs of a letdown in 2010 as it swept past Gettysburg (3-3). The Bobcats defended their territory with scores of 25-17, 25-12, and 25-21.
Senior
Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) led the Gettysburg attack with seven kills and added four blocks. Freshman setter
Lizzy Kuhn (Wilmington, Del./Archmere Academy) posted 17 assists and three kills.
Defensively, the Bullets back line was busy with junior
Rebecca Rubenstein (Bedford Hills, N.Y./Fox Lane) putting up 22 digs and sophomore
Katie Wilson (Gaithersburg, Md./Covenant Life) recording 15 digs.
Jamie Thomas tallied 11 kills, 17 digs, and four aces for the hosts.
The Bullets will look to end the skid at a competitive tournament hosted by Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., on Sept. 10-11. Gettysburg will play four contests over the two-day event beginning at noon on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday.
