Virginia Hogan and freshman
Cydney Bracken combined for 28 kills to lead Gettysburg College to a 3-0 win over Dickinson College in Centennial Conference volleyball action Thursday night inside Bream Gym.
Gettysburg (15-7, 5-0 CC) maintained its perfect league record by winning by scores of 25-22, 25-15, and 25-23. Dickinson (3-14, 1-4 CC) fought to the bitter end in the first and third sets, erasing a 9-0 hole in the former to tie the contest at 21. Sophomore
Sarah Gorski stopped the run with a kill and Bracken closed the set with a final attack.
The Red Devils took their only lead of the match in the third set, jumping out to a 4-1 advantage. Gettysburg came back to take a 7-6 lead, and following a point by the visitors which tied the set, the hosts ran off five consecutive points to open things up. Dickinson avoided match point with a kill by Emily Kisak, but Hogan wrapped things up by smacking a kill off the block and out-of-bounds.
Hogan logged double-digit kills for the eighth consecutive match and also added nine digs. Bracken logged her third double-figure kill total in her last four outings. Gorski and senior
Katie McConville each posted five kills and combined for five blocks.
Sophomore setter
Lizzy Kuhn finished the night with four kills, 26 assists, three aces, and six digs. Senior
Rebecca Rubenstein led the defense with 11 digs.
Emily Kisak and Liz Norris led Dickinson with six kills apiece with Kisak adding a team-high 11 digs.
Gettysburg returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 15, with a tri-match featuring Bryn Mawr College and SUNY Cortland inside Bream Gym. The Bullets face Bryn Mawr at 11 before facing the 20th-ranked Red Dragons at 3 p.m.
