Bullets Stumble in Season Finale

Johns Hopkins downs Gettysburg 3-0

BALTIMORE – Johns Hopkins University finished out a perfect regular season and claimed the top spot in the Centennial Conference Volleyball Tournament with a 3-0 win over Gettysburg College inside Goldfarb Gym on Saturday.

Gettysburg (18-10, 8-2 CC) could have claimed the top seed with a sweep, but the Bullets hit a season-low .057 on the attack and fell 25-10, 25-22, 25-16 to Johns Hopkins (21-4, 10-0 CC). Gettysburg will enter the conference tournament as the No. 3 seed and fill face No. 2 Franklin & Marshall College (18-10, 9-1 CC) in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 4, at a time to be announced.

Senior Katie McConville (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) led the attack with six kills and put up six digs, while sophomore Sarah Gorski (Darien, Conn./Darien) posted four kills and four blocks.

Senior Virginia Hogan was held to a season-low three kills, but she put up a team-high 11 digs. Senior Rebecca Rubenstein finished with 10 digs.

Meagan Donohoe led Johns Hopkins with 11 kills, while Anne Cohen put up 16 digs.

Gettysburg was also slated to play Carnegie Mellon on Saturday but that match was cancelled due to the weather.
