Box Score

BALTIMORE, Md. – Senior Virginia Hogan posted 14 kills and 15 digs and classmate Katie McConville added a dozen kills to lead the Gettysburg College volleyball team to a 3-2 win over Franklin & Marshall College in the semifinals of the Centennial Conference volleyball tournament Friday night inside Johns Hopkins University's Goldfarb Gym.

Gettysburg (19-10) advances to Saturday's championship to face the winner of Friday's other semifinal between host Johns Hopkins (23-4) and Haverford College (14-13). The Bullets lead all Centennial schools with 11 team titles, but the trophy has evaded the team since 2005. Saturday's title tilt is set to start at 7 p.m.

One week removed from a sweep at the hands of Franklin & Marshall (18-11), Gettysburg took the opening set 25-21 thanks to a 10-3 run after the score was knotted at 10-10. The Diplomats would bounce back in the next two sets, winning each 25-23.

Gettysburg returned the favor in the fourth set, breaking a 22-all tie with back-to-back kills by sophomores Sarah Gorski and Kelly Milione before McConville sealed a 25-23 win with a kill of her own.

McConville continued to fly in the fifth and decisive frame, adding four more kills to stake the Bullets to a two-point lead. The senior right-side also picked up an assist on the match-clinching kill by sophomore setter Lizzy Kuhn that put the Diplomats away 15-11.

After managing just four kills against Franklin & Marshall last week, Hogan returned to form with her team-best 16th double-figure kill effort of the season. McConville tied her career high in kills, while adding six digs and four total blocks.

Gorski finished with seven kills and four blocks. Sophomore Courtney Cyr factored into half of Gettysburg's 12 team blocks with six block assists. Kuhn put up 37 assists and added five kills and six digs, while senior Rebecca Rubenstein put up 19 digs.

Julie Harvey led a trio of Diplomats in double-figures with 16 kills. Katy May added 16 digs and Caroline Hubbard put up 49 assists and 10 digs.
