MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Gettysburg College softball team ended a perfect week of play at the Snowbird Tournament by putting up 30 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Mount Saint Vincent College on Thursday.
Gettysburg (9-3) went 8-0 during the week and out-scored its opposition 90-10. The Bullets ended play in five innings in both ends of the doubleheader against Mount Saint Vincent, taking the opener 16-0 and winning the nightcap 14-0.
Junior
Lanie Parr (Washington, D.C./Academy of the Holy Cross) and sophomore
Taylor Snyder (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) each tossed complete-game shutouts on Thursday. The pair each allowed only two hits, while posting seven strikeouts. During the week, the duo allowed just six earned runs over 46 innings for a sparkling 0.91 ERA.
Nearly every batter factored into Thursday's outcomes. Freshman
Maggie Maguire (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) homered for the third consecutive game with a two-run blast in the opener. She finished with a pair of hits, two walks, three runs, and seven RBI in the doubleheader.
Sophomore
Sam Bader (York, Pa./Central York) went 4-for-4 with a double, a run, and an RBI, while senior
Caitlin Bay (Flemington, N.J./Immaculata) and freshman
Brooke Kalman (Edgemont, Pa./Penncrest) each tallied three hits. Junior
Catrina DelGais (Airmont, N.Y./Suffern) finished with three hits, four runs, and three RBI. Sophomore
Katie Lang (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) sparked the offense in game two with a three hits, including a double and a triple, to go with two runs and four RBI.
Gettysburg resumes play on Sunday, March 20, with its first taste of Centennial Conference action. The Bullets take Haverford College in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Bobby Jones Field in Gettysburg.
