GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Taylor Snyder allowed only five hits and senior Megan Lott decked a two-run homer in an 8-0 win in the nightcap to help Gettysburg salvage a split with Haverford at Bobby Jones Field.

Gettysburg (10-4, 1-1 CC) and Haverford (4-8, 1-1 CC) split their head-to-head regular-season series for the third consecutive season. The Fords put up a pair of five-run innings to halt the Bullets' eight-game winning streak with a 12-4 win in the opener. The hosts avenged the defeat by the same margin in game two as Snyder allowed only one hit in the final four innings.

The conference season began on an offensive note for both teams in the first game. Haverford scored two runs in its first at bat, highlighted by an RBI double by Laura Iwanyk. Gettysburg answered right back as freshman Maggie Maguire blasted a two-run home run just inside the left-field foul pole with two outs. It was Maguire's first at bat on the home diamond and it marked her team-high fourth longball of the spring.

After a pair of quiet innings, the Fords took advantage of a pair of errors to tally five runs in the fourth. All the runs were unearned with Jen DiCandilo providing the big blow with a bases-clearing double.

The Bullets came back in the home half of the fourth as senior Caitlin Bay brought in a pair of runs before being gunned down trying to stretch a double into a triple.

With the visitors leading 7-4, Haverford charged up the bats and knocked out five hits to score five more runs in the sixth inning. Gettysburg went down quietly in the sixth to cap the opener.

The Fords looked to be the first to reach the scoreboard in the second game, putting two runners on base in each of the opening two frames. However, Snyder pitched around the jams and induced a pair of ground-outs to short to quell the attack.

The Bullets jumped on the board with their first batter as sophomore Joy Hallfors laced a hit into the right-center gap and easily sprinted her way to third base. When the center fielder's throw to the cut-off went awry, Hallfors jolted down the line to touch home for the first run.

The hosts added four more runs in the second with the first two coming courtesy of Lott's second home run of the spring over the fence in left. Hallfors brought in another run with a well-placed bunt through the left side, while a throwing error led to the final score.

The top of the order put the nightcap to rest as Hallfors and Bay walked and singled, respectively, before scoring on junior Adrienne Rahs'double down the left-field line.

After giving up four hits in the first two innings, Snyder allowed only two base-runners the rest of the way on a walk to Maggie Cronin in the fourth and a double by Iwanyk in the sixth. The win marked her second shutout of the year and upped her record to 5-2.

Hallfors finished the doubleheader 3-for-6 with a walk, four runs, one RBI, and two stolen bases. Rahs, Bay, Lott, and junior Catrina DelGais each finished with a pair of base hits on the afternoon.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, March 23, with a non-conference doubleheader against Lebanon Valley College at Bobby Jones Field at 3 p.m.
