YORK, Pa. – After getting swept by York (Pa.) College on its home floor last fall, the Gettysburg College volleyball team returned the favor Friday night, knocking off the host Spartans in three sets in a non-conference affair.
Gettysburg (7-3) nearly matched the scores from last season's meeting with York (6-4), which was the Spartans first win over the Bullets in 13 years. The Bullets handily won the opening set 25-12 thanks to a .478 attack percentage before closing out the match 25-18 and 25-21. Scores for last season's match up were 25-12, 25-19, and 25-22 in favor of York.
Senior 
Virginia Hogan picked up nine kills and 10 digs in the victory, while senior 
Katie McConville posted seven kills. Freshman 
Cydney Bracken tallied six kills in two sets.
Defensively, sophomore 
Sarah Gorski posted five blocks to go with four kills. Senior 
Rebecca Rubenstein notched 17 digs and junior 
Katie Wilson put up 13 digs. Sophomore setter 
Lizzy Kuhn recorded nine digs and 26 assists. 
Julie Coombs had seven kills and 10 digs for the hosts, while Ashley Rineman posted 17 digs.
Gettysburg continues play tomorrow with its Centennial Conference opener at Ursinus College beginning at 1 p.m.
