Box Score

CARLISLE, Pa. – Dickinson erased an 11-point first-half deficit and the host Red Devils pulled away late to beat Gettysburg 44-38 in a Centennial Conference men's basketball game in the Kline Center Wednesday evening.

The Bullets (8-10, 5-6 CC) held Dickinson to 29.5 percent shooting – the lowest mark by a Gettysburg opponent this season. But after leading 21-20 at halftime the Bullets were held to three field goals in the second period and finished with their lowest scoring output of the season.

Adam Honig led the Red Devils (9-9, 6-5 CC) with 17 points while Gerry Wixted finished with eight points and 10 rebounds. Senior guard Brendan Trelease paced Gettysburg with eight points while junior center Benjamin Constable posted seven points and seven rebounds. Junior forward Alex Zurn contributed six points and six boards.

Gettysburg, which was limited to a season-low 25.6 percent shooting, led 21-10 after a pair of Zurn free throws with 5:00 on the first-half clock before Dickinson ran off 10 unanswered points to close the period, with Honig pouring in seven points during the stretch.

The Bullets pushed their lead to five with 16:52 remaining, but Logan Furr capped an 8-1 run with a 3-pointer at the 13:31 mark to give the Red Devils their first lead (28-26) since the 13:39 mark of the opening half. But after two ties and another lead change, Dickinson went ahead to stay on a Wixted bucket with 8:23 to go.

The Devils went up by seven with 5:52 left, but the Bullets drew to within three (37-34) on a pair of Christian Bors free throws with 4:12 to go. However, Wixted answered with back-to-back lay-ups, and Gettysburg was unable to get closer than five the rest of the way.

Gettysburg resumes action on Saturday, when it hosts Swarthmore College at 4 p.m. in a Centennial Conference affair.
