Box Score
BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Senior
Sarah Alesio dished out three assists and sophomore
Brigid Behan scored two goals as the Gettysburg College women's soccer team routed Bryn Mawr College 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Gettysburg (9-4, 5-1 CC) remained in first place in the Centennial Conference standings with the victory. The Bullets entered the day tied with Johns Hopkins University (9-3-1, 4-1 CC) for the top spot with the Blue Jays hosting fifth-place Haverford College (9-2-1, 3-1-1 CC) later Saturday evening.
After playing five consecutive one-goal affairs, Gettysburg racked up a season-high for goals at Bryn Mawr (4-6-3, 1-4-2 CC). The Bullets were held out of the scoring column for the first 33 minutes as Owl goalie Rebecca Joseph made six of her 12 saves.
Junior
Tara Crowley set the stage for the opening goal, feeding first-year
Melissa Seidner in the 34th minute. About four minutes later, freshman
Lauren Schapiro picked up the assist on goal number two, finding junior
Becca Kent at 37:50.
Gettysburg added one more score before the end of the first half with Alesio kicking the ball out of the midfield to Crowley who hit it over Joseph's head for her fourth goal of the season at 41:49.
Alesio would factor into the first goal of the second half, finding sophomore
Jill Baltz off a corner kick in the 50th minute.
Sophomore
Georgia Ferguson would make it a 5-0 advantage with her first collegiate score at 68:04. Behan, who scored twice against Washington College earlier this fall, capped the day with goals in the 74th and 83rd minutes. Her second goal came via Alesio's third assist of the afternoon, one shy of the school record and the most by a Bullet since senior
Casey Attanasio logged three helpers against Susquehanna University on Sept. 4, 2010.
All three Bullet goalkeepers saw time in the cage with freshman
Eliza Gray playing the entire first half. Sophomore
Paige Della Badia played the first 36:07 of the second half and stopped Bryn Mawr's only shot on goal, while
Morgan Patullo finished the final 8:53.
Gettysburg returns home to face McDaniel College on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m.
