GETTYSBURG, Pa. – A cold first half was too much to overcome as the Gettysburg College men's basketball team dropped a 57-45 decision to Johns Hopkins University in a Centennial Conference tilt Wednesday evening in Bream Gymnasium.
The Bullets (9-11, 6-7 CC) were shut out over the final 14:25 of the first half, when Johns Hopkins (11-9, 7-6 CC) closed the period on a 22-0 run to assume a 26-8 halftime advantage.
Gettysburg cut the deficit to nine on three occasions midway through the second half but a 6-0 spurt, capped a 3-pointer from sophomore guard Daniel Corbett with 3:46 left, sealed the win for the Blue Jays.
Senior forward Tim McCarty posted 15 points and nine rebounds to lead Hopkins, which snapped a five-game losing streak. Freshman forward George Bugarinovic added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Blue Jays while Corbett contributed 10 points.

The Bullets began their comeback with 13:08 left. Trailing 39-21, the Orange & Blue put together an 11-2 run, with seven points coming from Constable, to slice the deficit in half with 9:02 showing. Gettysburg last trailed by nine with 6:19 to go following a Zurn lay-up, but that's when Hopkins answered with a Corbett free throw, a pair of McCarty foul shots, and Corbett's big 3-ball as the visitors pushed their lead back to 15.
Gettysburg continues its season on Saturday, when it visits Ursinus College at 3 p.m. in a Centennial Conference game.
