SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The men's 3,200-meter relay team broke a school record to highlight the Gettysburg College track & field teams at a large and competitive Susquehanna University Open on Friday night.
No team scoring was kept at the meet.
Sophomore
Patrick Hill, junior
Brad Wiseman, junior
Joe Sharp, and freshman
Ryan Rausch placed third in a race of six teams in the 4x800 and were clocked at 8:03.10, which clipped over five seconds off the previous record set four years ago.
Capturing Gettysburg's only victory on the day was sophomore
Simeon Daniels, who jumped 6-0 to beat out four other competitors.
Other top performances for the men's team included freshman
Edward Makinde who was ninth of 17 in the triple jump (40-0), junior
Andrew Bay, who was 18th among 41 runners in the 60-meter dash (7.49), junior
Tyler Keith, who placed 17th of 51 in the 800-meter run (2:04.63), and freshman
Malcolm Belin, who tied for 10th out of 36 runners in the 200-meter dash (24.03).
For the women's team, junior
Kerry Campbell and sophomore
Alex Bull placed 18th and 19th out of 38 runners in the mile, finishing in 5:43.47 and 5:45.43. Junior
Amanda Koslo placed 12th of 41 runners in the 400 (1:03.74) and 15th in a field of 41 in the 200 (28.54). Senior
Amanda Pellowe came in 13th among 38 in the 800 (2:30.48) in the 800.
Gettysburg returns to the oval next Saturday when it competes at the Centennial Conference Championships, hosted by Ursinus College.
