MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Gettysburg College softball team swept its competition for the second day in a row at the Snowbird Tournament. Freshman Alexa Katz plated the game-winning run in a 3-2 victory over Montreat College, while senior Adrienne Rahs and sophomore Maggie Maguire each drove in three runs in a 9-1 win over Mt. St. Vincent College.

After falling to Montreat (8-6) in the final inning just two days ago, Gettysburg (5-2) returned the favor in the rematch. With the scored tied 2-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh, junior Katie Lang led off with a double to right field. Sophomore Brooke Kalman followed with a single to left and Katz polished off the victory with her third hit of the afternoon.

Katz, who also produced the game-tying run in the fifth with a double, went 3-for-3 with three RBI. Kalman went 2-for-2 with a sacrifice that set up the Bullets' first run in the third inning.

Junior Taylor Snyder improved to 3-0 on the mound this spring. She allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits, while striking out two.

Rahs wasted little time putting Gettysburg on the board against Mt. St. Vincent (3-3) smashing a two-run homer in the first inning. Maguire and junior Sam Bader posted back-to-back run-scoring base knocks in the third inning, the former adding a two-run single in the fifth to put the Bullets up 7-1.

Rahs finished 2-for-3 with two runs. Junior Joy Hallfors and Maguire each produced three hits, the latter coming around to score twice.

Freshman Lindsey Treanor won her second-straight start by holding the Dolphins to two hits and one unearned run, while striking out five.

Gettysburg concludes its spring trip tomorrow (March 15) with games against Albertus Magnus College and Becker College at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m., respectively.
