FORT MYERS, Fla. –
The Gettysburg College baseball team scored 10 unanswered runs, including seven over the sixth and seventh innings, and defeated Lasell College 11-7 Thursday morning to stay perfect on its Spring Break trip to Florida.

Senior Mike Odierna earned the win in relief, holding Lasell (0-6) to a pair runs over five innings while striking out five. Sophomore Rob Stalzer worked the final 2 1/3 innings, yielding two runs.

Junior Pat Cody led the Bullets (6-1) at the plate, going 3-for-6 with three runs scored. Sophomore Nate Simon went 2-for-5 with two runs while classmate Al Posch was 2-for-6. Sophomore Alex Freeman and senior Drew Roy each scored a pair of runs.

The Lasers took an early 3-0 lead against starter Brett Norton, who left the game after 1 2/3 innings. But Odierna (1-0) worked out of a jam in the second, leaving runners on first and second, then fired four consecutive scoreless innings.

Gettysburg made it a one-run game with a two-run fourth, with sophomore Cam MacDonald singling home a run and another scoring on an error.

Cody got things started with a triple in the fifth before scoring on a single from Roy as the Bullets pulled even. In the sixth, Gettysburg converted a walk, two errors, and a single into three runs to take a 6-3 lead.

The Bullets opened up some breathing room with four two-out runs in the top of the seventh, which included two singles, two walks, and an error, as their lead swelled to 10-3.

Lasell finally reached Odierna in the seventh, scoring twice on two hits and a walk to make it 10-5. But with the tying run on second, Stalzer came on to end the threat with a strikeout.

The Lasers added single runs in the eighth and ninth sandwiched around an RBI-triple from senior Clint O'Brien in the eighth.

Gettysburg continues its trip with a doubleheader against SUNY New Paltz on Friday starting at noon.
