ANNVILLE, Pa. – Gettysburg stranded 17 runners on the base paths as Lebanon Valley College tripped up the Bullets twice in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday afternoon. The Dutchmen held off a late rally to win the opener 7-6 before taking the nightcap 3-1.

Gettysburg (7-4) saw its six-game winning streak come to a close as Lebanon Valley (8-8) put up seven runs in the second inning of the opening contest. A dozen batters went to the plate with Jorey Aumiller providing the big blow with a two-out, two-run double. Only one of the seven runs went into the scorebook as earned.

The Bullets answered with five runs in the top of the fifth frame, all coming with two outs. Sophomore Maggie Maguire drove in two with a single down the left-field line and classmate Abby Ferguson followed with her second homer of the spring to center. Junior Katie Lang pulled Gettysburg to within one run (7-6) with an RBI single to cap the scoring.

Freshman Lindsey Treanor kept the visitors within striking distance by retiring each of the 11 batters she faced in relief. The Bullets threatened in their final at bat, loading the bases with two outs, but Lebanon Valley reliever Kristen Palmerio got out of the jam with a grounder to first base. Gettysburg left 10 runners on base during the game.

Ferguson, junior Sam Bader, and freshmen Melissa Tighe and Alexa Katz each tallied two hits for the Bullets.

Gettysburg was unable to muster much offense against Emily Robenolt and Palmerio in the nightcap, totaling just four hits and one unearned run. The Bullets tied the game 1-1 on a throwing error in the fourth inning. In the very next frame, after the Dutchmen jumped ahead 2-1 on the scoreboard, the visitors loaded the bags with no outs and the middle of the order coming up. However, Palmerio fanned Maguire and Ferguson before getting pinch-hitter Adrienne Rahs to ground out to third base.

Lebanon Valley tacked on an insurance run in the sixth on a single by Angela Harris.

Junior Joy Hallfors and freshman Ashley Iannone each finished with two hits for Gettysburg. Senior Lanie Parr took the loss after giving up three runs on eight hits and striking out six.

Harris finished 3-for-3 with three RBI for LVC, while Palmerio earned her second save of the day with three scoreless innings to close the nightcap.

Gettysburg makes its home debut this Saturday (March 24) as Muhlenberg College visits Bobby Jones Field for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
