GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College pitching staff held Franklin & Marshall College's bats at bay and the Bullet bats did the rest in a Centennial Conference sweep at Bobby Jones Field on Tuesday.

With the sweep, Gettysburg (18-11, 9-3 CC) remained in the No. 2 position in the conference standings with only four games remaining in the regular season. The Bullets wrapped up the opener against F&M (12-17-1, 4-8 CC) in just five innings as senior Lanie Parr allowed only one hit in the 10-1 victory. The hosts also put an early end to the nightcap with an 8-0 decision in six innings powered by another strong pitching performance by freshman Lindsey Treanor.

Parr retired each of the first six batters she faced as the Gettysburg bats spotted her a 2-0 lead after two innings. In the top of the third, Ashley Hartshorn became Franklin & Marshall's first runner with a lead-off walk. After a strikeout, Megan Pauley posted the team's only hit with a bloop single to right field. With Hartshorn on third, Pauley drew a throw to second on a steal and a throwing error to home allowed the runner from third to score.

Parr retired the final two batters in the inning by strikeout and groundout to quell the threat.

The Bullets answered emphatically in the home half with eight runs. After the first two batters were hit-by-pitches, sophomore Maggie Maguire belted her third home run of the spring over the fence in center field. Freshman Alexa Katz drove in two more with a double to left and senior Adrienne Rahs brought home the final tally with another double. The two-bagger was the 42nd of Rahs' career, leaving her just two shy of the Centennial Conference record held by current Gettysburg coach Sam Abrams (McDaniel '04).

Parr improved to 4-5 after allowing just one hit and one walk, while striking out four. Maguire posted three RBI on two hits and scored twice, while sophomore Abby Ferguson and junior Joy Hallfors each tallied a pair of base hits.

Treanor picked up her ninth consecutive victory and fourth shutout of the season in game two. The first-year hurler allowed just four hits and two walks, while fanning three. After stranding four runners in the first two frames, she needed only three pitches to get out of the third inning. She benefitted from some steady defense as well with senior Catrina DelGais laying out for a line drive in the top of the fourth. After Alicia Kukoda led off the sixth with a double, the Bullets turned a double play as Treanor fanned Julianne Whitleigh and Rahs picked off Kukoda at second.

Gettysburg jumped on the board in the third inning with five unearned runs. Ferguson drove in one run with a double off the wall in left-center and Hallfors followed up with a two-run single. The Bullets added three more runs in the final two frames to close the win.

DelGais and junior Sam Bader each finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Bader also drove in two runs. Ferguson added two more hits and an RBI in game two. Hallfors celebrated her birthday with two more hits in the nightcap to finish 4-for-5 with one walk, one run, and two RBI in the series.

Gettysburg heads down the road to face McDaniel College in a key conference match up on Saturday, April 21, at 1 p.m. McDaniel currently leads the Bullets in the standings by one game.
