GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior Adrienne Rahs shattered Gettysburg's career record for doubles as the Bullets knocked off Hood College 9-0 in the opening game of a non-conference doubleheader at Bobby Jones Field. The hosts came up short of the sweep as the Blazers held on for a 6-3 victory in the nightcap.

Rahs posted three hits in the opening game, including a pair of two-baggers. After plating the game's first run with a single in the second, the senior catcher belted her record-breaking double and came around to score on a single by classmate Catrina DelGais in the third inning. She drove in another run with her third hit of the game and second double in the fifth inning as Gettysburg (12-9) posted three more runs to take a 5-0 lead.

The Bullets closed the first game with four runs in the sixth, capped emphatically by a two-run home run to center field by sophomore Abby Ferguson.

Rahs moved past Karyn Miller '00 for the program record for doubles with 38. Rahs, who set Gettysburg's single-season record for doubles with 15 last spring, has set or tied several program marks this year including career hit-by-pitches (19) and single-game home runs (2) and RBI (7). She is also just two RBI and four runs away from reaching the century mark in both of those categories.

Rahs received plenty of help in the opener as Gettysburg pounded out 14 hits. Junior Joy Hallfors and DelGais each went 3-for-4, the latter driving in two runs. Ferguson drove in three runs on two hits and junior Sam Bader went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Freshman Lindsey Treanor turned in a strong showing on the mound, allowing just three hits, two walks, and striking out three.

Hood (7-18) struck for the first six runs in game two, putting two on the board in the first, third, and fourth innings. Kelly Gafner contributed to most of the damage with three hits, including a two-run doubles in the first and an RBI triple in the third.

Gettysburg cracked the scoring column in the sixth on an RBI single by DelGais. The Bullets took a stab at a comeback in the final frame, bringing two runs across the board and bringing the game-tying run to the plate with two outs. Hood's Jennifer Rutherford closed the door, however, inducing Bader into a ground-out to second base.

Hallfors added three more hits in the nightcap, while Rahs went 2-for-3 with a walk. Senior Lanie Parr tossed three scoreless innings in relief for the Bullets.

Gettysburg closes the week at home with a Centennial Conference doubleheader with Ursinus College on Saturday, April 7, at 1 p.m.
