GETTYSBURG, Pa. – It came down to the wire, but the Gettysburg women's golf team concluded a record-breaking weekend by
claiming its second consecutive Centennial Conference title on April 29, marking top moment No. 6 in Gettysburg College athletics in 2011-12.
After winning the title by two strokes in 2011, the Bullets surged to a big lead on the opening day of the 2012 conference event, shooting a school-record tying 343 on the opening day at the Hanover Country Club. Sunday's final round saw another record-breaking round, but this time the Green Terror took advantage of fair weather to break Gettysburg's team scoring record with a 339. The surge wasn't enough, as the Bullets combined for a 348 to edge McDaniel by two strokes for the second year in a row.
Gettysburg's 691 over the two-day event shattered the previous tournament record by 23 strokes.
Kara McNulty '14 claimed medalist honors with a school-record 158 over 36 holes, including a 78 on the opening day, marking the first sub-80 round by a Bullet in seven years. McNulty, who also set the school's single-season record for scoring average, was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year. Freshman
Lauren Sobotka '15 was named All-Centennial Conference First Team after tying for fifth place.
