2012 Battlefield Classic Gallery
GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College volleyball team opened the 2012 campaign with a split on the first day of action at the Battlefield Classic on Friday, Aug. 31. The Bullets bounced back from a 1-0 deficit to take down Penn State Behrend 3-1 before dropping a 3-0 decision to Geneva College.
Behrend (0-2) jumped out to an early lead and held off the home team for a 25-21 victory in the opening set. Gettysburg rebounded with a 25-22 decision in the second frame and squeaked out a 26-24 win over the Nittany Lions in the third set. The Bullets carried the momentum into the fourth set for a decisive 25-15 victory.

Cydney Bracken led the Bullets with 17 kills and a career-high 18 digs. She also added three aces and a pair of blocks. Junior
Sarah Gorski connected on 13 kills, while junior
Kelly Milione knocked down a personal best 11 kills to go with eight digs.

Kate DeLess put up a career-high 20 digs.
After sweeping by Penn State Behrend, Geneva closed out a perfect opening day with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-19) decision over Gettysburg. The Golden Tornadoes posted an attack percentage of .333 in the match, led by Maggie Bowersox who finished with 12 kills in 16 attempts.
Bracken once again led the Bullets, notching seven kills. Kuhn dished out 10 assists to go with 16 digs.
Gettysburg resumes action at the Classic with match ups against the Mount Saint Mary (N.Y.) College and the University of Scranton. The Bullets face the Blue Knights at 10 a.m. and the Lady Royals at 2 p.m. inside Bream Gym.
