BALTIMORE –
Johns Hopkins rallied from a 17-point second-half deficit to beat Gettysburg 64-59 in Centennial Conference men's basketball action Thursday evening at Goldfarb Gym.

The Bullets (11-9, 7-6 CC), who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end, were led by freshman guard Sango Amolo (Falls Church, Va./McLean), who tied a season-high with 17 points. Senior Alex Zurn (Brookeville, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal) added 11 points while senior center Benjamin Constable (Christchurch, New Zealand) contributed nine points and seven rebounds. Senior Derek Brooks (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) tied a season-high with  six assists, and junior Connor Poston (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) had seven points and nine boards.

Adam Spengler scored 12 points to lead Johns Hopkins (13-7, 9-4 CC) while George Bugarinovic tallied 11 points and nine rebounds.

Gettysburg led 46-29 with 13:25 left after Brooks went coast-to-coast with a steal and lay-up. However, the Blue Jays slowly chipped away and eventually took a seven-point lead inside the final minute following a 30-6 run.

The Bullets led 52-47 after a Constable lay-up with 4:54 remaining, but that's when Hopkins ran off 12 unanswered points. Adam Spengler gave the Blue Jays their first lead since early in the game when he hit two free throws with 2:25 left, making it 53-52. After Gettysburg missed a pair of foul shots, Bugarinovic dropped in a lay-up with 1:55 to go.

Hopkins called a timeout with 1:15 left and five seconds on the shot clock. Jimmy Hammer then drew a foul driving to the bucket before hitting both shots at the line to push the lead to 57-52. The Bullets missed their next shot and were forced to foul, and the Blue Jays went on to shoot 7-for-8 at the foul line the rest of the way to hold on for the win.

For the game, Hopkins shot 15-for-16 at the line, going 11-for-12 in the final 2:25, while Gettysburg went 10-for-20.

Amolo knocked down a pair of early 3-pointers to put the Bullets in front 11-9, and the visitors would not trail for the remainder of the half. Gettysburg led just 21-17 with 9:14 on the clock but outscored the Jays 18-9 over the remainder of the stanza to assume a 39-26 halftime advantage. Constable scored the Bullets last seven points of the half, including a put-back at the buzzer.

Gettysburg returns to the court on Saturday, when it hosts Ursinus College at 3 p.m. in another Centennial Conference match-up.
