GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to Johns Hopkins University in a big Centennial Conference (CC) match Wednesday evening in Bream Gymnasium.

The Bullets and Blue Jays entered the night tied for fourth place in the CC standings. Gettysburg (13-15, 5-4 CC) now finds itself tied with Haverford College for the fifth place and the final playoff spot in the upcoming CC playoffs.

Johns Hopkins (10-12, 6-3 CC) won by scores of 25-17, 25-13, and 25-18.

Senior Sarah Gorski (Darien, Conn./Darien) posted a team-high five kills while classmate Lizzy Kuhn (Wilmington, Del./Archmere Academy) handed out 14 assists. Sophomore Alesha Miller (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) came up with nine digs.

Meagan Donohue registered 12 kills to lead Johns Hopkins, which served up 13 aces. Carolyn Zin posted four aces and 20 assists while splitting time at setter.

Gettysburg led 5-2 early in the opening set before Hopkins assumed control, taking a 12-6 lead after a 10-1 run. The Bullets pulled to within three (15-12) after a 4-1 spurt, but that's as close as they would get.

The Blue Jays never trailed in the second set, when they hit .571 and opened on a 14-3 run. Gettysburg was unable to get closer than 10 the rest of the way.

The Bullets led just twice in the final stanza – at 1-0 and 2-1. But it was close for most of the set and featured eight ties, the last of which came at 17-17. However, that's when Hopkins closed the night with an 8-1 run.

Gettysburg closes out the regular season on Saturday, when it hosts Centennial Conference foe McDaniel College at noon.
