Schneider scored again, this time from 1 yard out, with 10:42 left in the first half to make it 27-0. Gettysburg made its first defensive stand when McNamara picked off a pass at the Bullet-10 on F&M's first drive of the second half. Then on the first play of the Diplomats' next drive, a strip-sack by Winters was recovered by Chris Miller at the F&M-21. Four plays later, sophomore tailback Paul Lowry (Midland Park, N.J./Midland Park) rushed in from a yard away, and a Robby Fay (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) extra point made it 34-20 with 8:09 remaining in the third quarter.
Later in the period, Gettysburg assembled a seven-play, 90-yard drive, capped by Fessenden's touchdown reception. The two-point conversion pass was incomplete, making it 36-26.
Franklin & Marshall snuffed out Gettysburg's first drive of the fourth quarter when Ryan Feulner intercepted a heave downfield at the Diplomat-26. But Chris Miller returned the favor when he picked off a pass and returned it seven yards to the Gettysburg-46 with 9:17 left.
After a Bullet punt, Schneider was intercepted for the third time, when junior defensive end A.J. Hill (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) returned a pick 69 yards to the Diplomat-8. However, Gettysburg turned it over on the very next play, when Pennella fumbled on a reception at the F&M-18.
Gettysburg would force a punt, but turned the ball over on downs near midfield with 24 seconds left.
