Blue Jays Halt Bullets in CC First Round

Johns Hopkins clinches playoff win in three sets

BALTIMORE, Md. – Johns Hopkins University earned its second victory over Gettysburg College in a week as the Blue Jays defeated the Bullets 3-0 in the opening round of the Centennial Conference Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
 
Johns Hopkins (12-12), which downed Gettysburg (14-16) in three sets on Oct. 30, powered past the visitors with scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-18.
 
Sophomore Courtney Morrow (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) led Gettysburg with seven kills and added two total blocks. Senior Courtney Cyr (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) posted five kills, while senior Lizzy Kuhn (Wilmington, Del./Archmere Academy) dished out 15 assists and put up 10 digs.
 
Sophomore Alesha Miller (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) paced the defense with 19 digs and classmate Hannah Bentz (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) added 10 digs.
 
Meagan Donohoe led Johns Hopkins with 13 kills, while four other Blue Jays tallied six kills. Stephanie Yokoyama recorded 17 digs.
