DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Gettysburg went 6-for-6 at the foul line in the final 1:12 and the Bullets erased a nine-point deficit in the last eight minutes, topping Berry College 66-63 at the Daytona Beach Shootout Friday evening at the Ocean Center.

The Bullets (4-5), who trailed by as much as 12 early in the second half, received a game-high 20 points from freshman forward Cody Kiefer (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg), who scored the team's final four points at the charity stripe. He hit a pair of go-ahead free throws with nine seconds left to make it 64-62, then iced the game with two more foul shots with two seconds remaining.

Sophomore guard Sango Amolo (Falls Church, Va./McLean) added 17 points off the bench for Gettysburg while senior forward Connor Poston (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) contributed 11 points and seven rebounds.

Owen Jacobs led Berry (3-7) with 19 points and 11 rebounds while Hunter Smoak added 12 points for the Vikings.

Kiefer finished 7-for-7 at the foul line as the Bullets shot a season-best 78.9 percent (15-for-19) at the charity stripe. Gettysburg also connected on a season-best 48.0 percent from the field.

With his team trailing 62-60, Amolo went 2-for-2 at the foul line to pull the Bullets even with 1:12 to go. After Smoak missed a 3-pointer, Kiefer pulled down the defensive rebound before drawing a foul with nine seconds left and putting the Bullets up 64-62 with his first two free throws.

Mac Whalen was fouled on a 3-point attempt with three ticks showing, but only went 1-for-3 at the line. Kiefer was fouled off the inbound pass one second later before setting the final score with his final two free throws. The Vikings missed a desperation 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Gettysburg never led in the opening half, which saw Berry lead by as much as 11. The Vikings opened the game on a 13-6 run, but the Bullets answered with a 7-1 spurt to pull even on an Amolo trey with 12:26 on the clock. However, Berry would pull away over the remainder of the half, and a 3-ball from Douglas Cotter made it 37-26 with 1:42 remaining. But the Bullets scored the last four points of the half on a lay-up from Amolo and jumper from Poston at the buzzer to make it 37-30 at the break.

The Vikings opened the second half on a 6-1 run to assume its largest lead of the night at 43-31 with 18:21 to go. But Gettysburg used a 7-0 surge midway through the half to draw to within four.

An 11-0 run, capped by a lay-up from Poston with 4:17 left, gave the Orange and Blue its first lead of the night. It would be Gettysburg's last field goal of the game, however, and the Vikings hit a pair of jumpers to reclaim the lead at 62-60 with 1:46 to go before the Bullets late free throws.
