Joe Emerusabe scored a season-high 18 points versus McDaniel.
Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's basketball team lost their regular-season finale by a final of 75-50 to McDaniel College Saturday afternoon on Senior Day in Bream Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Bullets' playoff hopes rested on the outcome of the Ursinus-Muhlenberg game later in the afternoon. An Ursinus victory would give the fifth and final Centennial Conference playoff spot to the Bears; a loss would result in a Bullet playoff berth. Fortunately for Gettysburg, the Mules came away with an 80-56 victory.

Gettysburg, Ursinus, and McDaniel finished in a three-way tie for fifth place in the conference standings at 8-10, and Gettysburg won the tiebreaker due to head-to-head results among tied teams. The Bullets – who swept Ursinus and split with McDaniel – were 3-1, McDaniel was 2-2, and Ursinus was 1-3.

The Orange and Blue will now head to Muhlenberg on Wednesday for the Centennial Conference first-round playoff game beginning at 7:30 p.m. Gettysburg swept the Mules during the regular season.

It is Gettysburg's 12th Centennial Conference playoff appearance in the last 13 seasons.

McDaniel used some red-hot shooting in the opening half to open up a 16-point lead at the intermission before pulling away in the second stanza.

Sophomore Joe Emerusabe (Derwood, Md./Magruder) scored a season-high 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting for Gettysburg (12-13, 8-10 CC) while senior Tyler Rudd scored 20 points to lead the Green Terror (14-11, 8-10 CC). Senior Derek Brooks (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) added a  career-high nine rebounds and tied a career-best with seven assists for the Bullets.

Brooks was one of five seniors honored prior to the game, along with Christian Bors (Lanham, Md./Sidwell Friends [D.C.]), Benjamin Constable (Christchurch, New Zealand/Cashmere), Larry Geedey (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley), and Alex Zurn (Brookeville, Md./St. Andrew's Episcopal).

The Green Terror outscored Gettysburg 21-11 to start the game, but lay-ups from freshman Sango Amolo (Falls Church, Va./McLean) and Bors cut the deficit to six. An Emerusabe 3-pointer with 4:04 showing made it an eight-point game (26-18), but that's when the Green Terror struck for an 11-3 run, which included a trio of 3-pointers, to close the period and assume a 37-21 halftime advantage.

McDaniel shot 63.6 percent in the opening half, including 77.8 percent (7-for-9) from beyond the arc.

Emerusabe twice pulled the Bullets to within 13, first on a jumper with 18:18 left and later on a conventional 3-point play with 13:58 to play. But that's when McDaniel used a 13-2 run to break the game open, opening up a 57-33 lead with 7:19 left. Gettysburg was unable to get closer than 18 the rest of the way.
