FORT MYERS, Fla. – Gettysburg outhit Coast Guard 15-11, but the Bullets left nine on base and surrendered three unearned runs in an 8-5 loss Tuesday afternoon during the team's Spring Break trip to Florida.
The Bullets (5-2), who had won their first four games of the trip, led 3-0 and 5-4, only to see the Bears (4-2) score the game's last four runs.

Al Posch (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) led Gettysburg at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with two doubles while senior
Pat Cody (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) went 3-for-4.

Joe Saladino (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) started on the mound for the Bullets and came away with a no-decision, yielding four runs (two earned) on seven hits over 4 2/3 innings. Sophomore
Kyle Beldoch (Leonia, N.J./Leonia) pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief in taking the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits.
Gettysburg led 3-0 in the top of the first on an RBI-double from Posch, a run-scoring single by Cody, and a sacrifice fly from junior
Nate Simon (Gwynedd Valley, Pa./Abington Friends School). But the Bears rallied with two runs on four hits in the bottom of the inning.
Saladino blanked Coast Guard from the second through the fourth before running into trouble in the fifth, giving up two runs on two hits and an error as the Bears went ahead 4-3.
The Bullets went back in front with two runs in the top of the sixth, getting RBI-singles from juniors
Ben Roessle (Summit, N.J./Summit) and
Austin Davis (New York, N.Y./Riverdale Country School).
Gettysburg could not hold the lead, however, as Coast Guard came back to score two runs against sophomore
Mike Kielbasa (Ludlow, Mass./Loomis Chaffee School) and Beldoch (0-1) on two walks, one hit, and one error. The Bears tacked on a pair of insurance runs with a two-run homer in the seventh.
Senior
Brett Norton (Millwood, N.Y./Horace Greeley) kept Gettysburg within striking distance, throwing 1 1/3 scoreless innings.
Davis, junior
Patrick O'Grady (Floral Park, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy), and junior
Tommy LeNoir (Bear, Del./Red Lion Christian Academy) all finished with two hits for the Bullets.
Gettysburg takes a day off before playing Drew University in another single nine-inning game on Thursday starting at 1 p.m.
