Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Sophomore Lindsey Treanor (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) and freshman Michelle Fox (Newton, N.J./Blair Academy) combined to hold Swarthmore to one earned run as the Bullets swept past the Garnet 2-0 and 5-2 in Centennial Conference softball action on Saturday afternoon.

Gettysburg (11-9, 3-1 CC) received a strong outing from Treanor in the opening game. The sophomore allowed two hits in the opening frame, but Swarthmore (11-7, 0-4 CC) recorded only one more hit over the final six innings. Treanor retired 16 of the final 17 batters she faced and did not allow a walk in the game.

Freshman Steph Zengel (High Bridge, N.J./North Hunterdon) provided Gettysburg with all the offensive support it would need with a run-scoring single in the fifth inning. Zengel would help add some insurance in the seventh frame with a ground-out to plate sophomore Melissa Tighe (Little Falls, N.J./Mt. St. Dominic Academy) who led off the frame with a double.

The Bullets hit the scoreboard early in the nightcap with a pair of runs in the first inning. Tighe recorded her fourth hit of the afternoon to lead off the game and senior Joy Hallfors (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) followed with an infield single. The duo came around to score on a double by sophomore Ashley Iannone (Great Meadows, N.J./Blair Academy).

Swarthmore tied the game in the bottom of the second with a pair of runs. The hosts were poised for more with a runner on third, but Fox fanned the No. 9 hitter to get out of the inning.

Gettysburg came right back in the top of the third with two runs. After the first two hitters were put out, the Bullets tallied four consecutive singles with both junior Maguire Maguire (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) and Iannone coming around to score to make it 4-2.

The visitors added another run in the seventh as Zengel smacked a pinch-hit double to score Hallfors.

Fox improved to 5-3 after allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits, while striking out four. Hallfors, Maguire, Iannone, and senior Katie Lang (Kennebunk, Maine/Kennebunk) each tallied two hits for Gettysburg. With her two hits, Hallfors moved into third on the school's career hits list with 164. She is just 10 shy of tying the school record.

Gettysburg travels to Dickinson College for a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 2, at 5 p.m.
