GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg outhit Lancaster Bible College 20-5 and tied the school record for wins in a season with an 18-6 non-conference baseball victory Tuesday afternoon at a slick Kirchhoff Field.

The Bullets (28-11), who won for the 13th time in their last 14 games, now share the distinction of the winningest team in program history with the 1988 squad, which finished 28-10.

Gettysburg, which capitalized on seven errors, trailed 6-3 heading into the bottom of the fifth before erupting for 15 runs over its next three innings. The Bullets put up eight runs in the fifth and six more in the seventh, batting around in each inning.

Junior Al Posch (Hopedale, Mass./Hopedale) had a big game for the Bullets, extending his hitting streak to 24 games and finishing 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three runs. He also reset his own single-season school records for hits and at-bats from a year ago, pushing his totals to 62 and 168, respectively.

Junior Nate Simon (Gwynedd Valley, Pa./Abington Friends School) went 2-for-5 with a career-high five RBIs for Gettysburg, which posted its highest scoring output since an 18-2 win over Susquehanna University late last season. Senior Pat Cody (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) went 3-for-4, is 7-for-8 over his last two games, and has hit safely in 26 of the last 27 games. Junior Austin Davis (New York, N.Y./Riverdale Country School) was 2-for-5 with three runs while junior Ben Roessle (Summit, N.J./Summit), sophomore Scott Zanghellini (Randolph, N.J./Randolph), and junior Patrick O'Grady (Floral Park, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) all collected two hits.

Tossing 2 2/3 perfect innings to earn the win in relief was junior Rob Stalzer (Merrick, N.Y./Bellmore JFK). Freshman Luke Lawrence (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) started and fired three scoreless and hitless innings while sophomore Brett Harrington (North Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) blanked the Chargers over the final two frames.

Frank DiFilippo went 2-for-3 with a double and a home run to lead Lancaster Bible (7-23).

With a slight mist falling, the Bullets led 2-0 after three innings, with Cody smacking an RBI-triple in the third. The Chargers tied it with two runs on three walks and a double in the fourth.

Gettysburg went in front 3-2 on a sacrifice fly from junior Cam MacDonald (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) in the bottom of the inning, but Lancaster Bible rallied with a four-run fifth, capped by DiFilippo's towering blast to left. Stalzer (1-0) came on to record the final two outs of the inning, then retired six straight over the sixth and seventh innings.

The Bullets sprayed six hits in their big fifth inning, which included a two-run triple from O'Grady and a two-run double from Posch. Gettysburg piled on six more hits in the seventh, with Simon providing a three-run double.

Jake Ritchey (0-4) threw the opening 4 2/3 for Lancaster Bible and was charged with the loss, though just one of his 11 runs was earned.
