Gettysburg doubled its lead with another four-spot in the third against reliever Nathan Booth, highlighted by a two-run double from O'Grady.
Gettysburg starter
Drew Felsenthal (Mt. Kisco, N.Y./Horace Greeley) retired the first six batters but the Garnet cut the deficit to 8-5 after scoring five runs over the third and fourth innings. The Bullets went on to add single runs in the sixth and seventh against Booth and Matt Bertuch on RBI-singles from O'Grady and Simon to extend their lead to 10-5.
Swarthmore pulled to within one following a four-run seventh. Felsenthal exited the game with two outs and the scoreboard reading 10-7 before junior reliever
Chris Yoda (Wall, N.J./Wall) was greeted with a two-run double from pinch-hitter Rory McTear to make it 10-9. Yoda induced a flyout to escape the inning.
The Garnet went ahead with a four-run eighth. Nicko Burnett tied it with a one-out solo home run, and four batters later Trevor Shepherd put Swarthmore up 11-10 with a two-out single. Nick Constantino capped the inning with a two-run single against sophomore reliever
Kyle Beldoch (Leonia, N.J./Leonia).
In the meantime, Bertuch (2-0) retired six of his final seven batters to earn the win.
Yoda (1-2) was charged with the loss while Felsenthal worked 6 2/3 innings and finished with seven strikeouts.

Cam MacDonald (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) all finished with two hits apiece. Constantino went 4-for-5 for Swarthmore.
Swarthmore led 4-2 after three innings in the nightcap, as the Bullets pushed across unearned runs in the first and third. The Garnet then plated three runs without the benefit of a hit in the fifth, taking advantage of two walks and four hit batsmen by freshman starter
Luke Lawrence (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) and senior reliever
John Donovan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) to assume a 7-2 advantage.
Gettysburg cut the gap to four on an RBI-double from Simon in the sixth, but in the bottom of the inning the Garnet erupted for seven runs on eight hits against Donovan and sophomore reliever
Joe Saladino (Merrick, N.Y./Calhoun) to set the final score.
Sophomore
Mike Kielbasa (Ludlow, Mass./Loomis Chaffee School) blanked Swarthmore in the seventh and eighth.
Lawrence (2-3) threw 4 1/3 innings and was charged with the loss while starter Oscar Leong (2-1) worked six innings to pick up the win.
