Tori Sankey (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) scored twice as the Gettysburg College field hockey team beat Bryn Mawr College 8-0 Saturday afternoon.
Gettysburg (4-8, 2-4 CC) converted on each of its first two shot attempts. Sophomore
Samantha Wright (Darien, Conn./Darien) scored off an assist from Engelhart 5:06 into the game. Seniors
Kellyann Walley (Northport, N.Y./Northport) and
Lexie Mowery (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Northern) hooked up for another goal just 1:35 later.
Freshman
Haley Mowery (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Northern) produced her only save of the game at 12:55, while her counterpart in the Bryn Mawr (2-10, 0-7 CC) goal, Alex Weinfeld, posted six saves before the Bullets opened the floodgates. The visitors scored three goals over a two-minute span with sophomore
Catherine Towers (Midlothian, Va./St. Anne's Belfield) starting the run at 25:27 and Sankey picking up back-to-back goals just 33 seconds apart.
Gettysburg polished off the win with three goals in the second half. Sophomore
Kathryn Hardman (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) scored off a feed by junior
Mari Bigley (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) at 44:30. Freshman
Megan Green (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) added her first collegiate goal with just over 11 minutes to play and Engelhart capped the afternoon with her second goal of the season with 1:20 left.
Gettysburg finished with a 32-4 advantage in shots and a 14-2 lead in penalty corners.
Haley Mowery played the entire first half in goal, while sophomores
Meghan Brady (Ledgewood, N.Y./Roxbury) and
Ronnie Bridges (Kingsville, Md./Notre Dame Prep) played in the second half with the latter posting a pair of saves.
Gettysburg returns to action against McDaniel College at home on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 4 p.m.
