Box Score GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Four different players scored a goal as the Gettysburg College women's soccer team posted its fifth-consecutive shutout victory, blanking Bryn Mawr College 4-0 in a Centennial Conference (CC) match-up Saturday afternoon at Clark Field.
The Bullets (9-3-1, 5-0-1 CC), who remained undefeated in the conference, led just 1-0 at halftime before breaking the match open with three goals over a 19-minute stretch in the second half.
Bryn Mawr dropped to 5-8-1 (1-5-1 CC).
Gettysburg, which outshot the Owls 28-1, got on the scoreboard in the 31st minute, when sophomore
Hannah Theurer (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) scored of a goalie deflection, punching the ball into a wide-open net for her first goal of the season. The Bullets outshot Bryn Mawr 15-0 in the half but Owl keeper Aviva Kosansky made four saves in the period.
The Orange and Blue opened up some breathing room in the 61st minute, when sophomore
Julia Ramsey (Wayne, Pa./Conestoga) sent a pass into the right side of the box for senior
Georgia Ferguson (Bethel, Conn./Bethel) who slanted a shot inside the right post for her third goal of the season to make it 2-0.
Gettysburg tacked on two more goals five minutes apart later in the half. In the 75th minute, freshman
Gillian Sencindiver (Strafford, Pa./Conestoga) delivered a throw-in to junior
Lauren Schapiro (Stamford, Conn./Stamford), who tapped the ball back to Sencindiver well outside the box on the right side of the field. The first-year then looped her long-range shot over the keeper for her first collegiate goal.
Freshman
Shannon Brady (Glen Head, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy Academy) set the final score in the 80th minute, drilling in a shot off her own goalie deflection for her third tally of the season.
Kosansky also made four saves in the second half to finish with eight stops on the day.
Junior
Eliza Gray (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) played the opening 78 minutes in goal for the Bullets before giving way to senior
Paige Della Badia (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plain-Fanwood). Neither net-minder faced a shot on goal.
The Bullets return to the pitch on Wednesday, when they visit McDaniel College at 3:30 p.m. in another Centennial Conference affair.
