Box Score BALTIMORE, Md. – The Gettysburg College volleyball team dropped its season finale at Johns Hopkins University 3-0 inside Goldfarb Gym on Saturday.
Needing a victory to stay alive in the race for a spot in the Centennial Conference playoffs, Gettysburg (19-11, 5-5 CC) came up short against Johns Hopkins (17-10, 8-2 CC) with scores of 25-21, 25-23, and 25-10. The loss knocked the Bullets into sixth in the conference standings with the top five teams advancing to the postseason tournament.
Sophomore
Laura Bergin (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) led the Gettysburg attack with eight kills. Bergin averaged 3.3 kills per set this fall, the best by a Bullet attacker since Lauren Thul '08 logged the same number in 2006.
Junior
Joosje Grevers (Westport, Conn./Staples) finished with five kills, while junior
Alesha Miller (New Oxford, Pa./New Oxford) led the defense with 13 digs. Freshman
Katherine Gilbert (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) posted 11 digs.
Liz Wuerstle finished with 12 kills and nine aces for Johns Hopkins. Mereze Visagie tallied eight kills and Anne Cohen added 11 digs.
