Johns Hopkins, the defending Centennial Conference champions, outscored the Bullets 8-2 to start the game, but Gladstone's conventional 3-point play made it 15-13 with 10:06 remaining. However, that's when the Blue Jays launched into their decisive run, which included eight points from Williams. A pair of free throws from Matt Billups made it 33-13 with 6:01 left in the opening half.

Gettysburg chipped away at the deficit and pulled to within 12 (37-25) after another old-fashioned 3-point play from Gladstone with 1:16 remaining. But Hopkins closed the period with some momentum when Austin Vasiliadis drove hard down the lane and completed an and-1 of his own with three seconds left to make it 40-25 at the break.

The Jays scored the opening four points of the second half, and the Bullets were unable to draw closer than 16 the rest of the way. A lay-up from senior guard
Sean Gordon (Broomall, Pa./Malvern Prep) made it 48-32 when Hopkins answered with a 9-2 run to open up a 23-point advantage with 11:34 left.

Gettysburg was held to 36.2 percent shooting and committed a season-high 21 turnovers. Hopkins shot 48.1 percent from the field.
