Kevin Gladstone (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) poured in a career-high 17 points and a Washington College three-point try at the buzzer rimmed out to give Gettysburg College a 59-58 victory in Centennial Conference action inside the Cain Center Saturday afternoon.

George Petrie unable to make the trek due to illness, the Bullets came out firing. Sophomore
Pete Christ (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) accounted for 11 points as Gettysburg surged in front 17-5 to open the game.
Washington (1-5, 1-2 CC) steadily chipped away and pulled to five (19-14) on a tip-in by Dave Knox at the halfway point of the first period. Later in the stanza, the hosts grabbed their first lead on an old-fashioned three-point play by John Weston which made it 34-32 with just over a minute remaining. The momentum shift continued down to the break with a three-pointer by Bryan Shapiro setting the score at 39-33.
Washington's lead hit seven in the early stages of the final period, but the Bullets battled back with a 7-0 run capped with a Christ jumper placing the visitors back in front 49-48 with 12:28 to go.
Points were a commodity in the final 10 minutes of the game with only 18 total scored by both teams. Senior
Sean Gordon (Broomall, Pa./Malvern Prep) had a hand in each of Gettysburg's final two field goals, finding sophomore
Tanner Kirkpatrick (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) for a lay-up under the hoop and then hitting a jumper to push the lead to 57-53 with 6:48 left.
James Drury answered back with a three-pointer to pull Washington to within one (57-56), but that would be the last field goal of the game.
Neither team managed a field goal in the final five minutes of the contest, but Gettysburg maintained the advantage thanks to a pair of free throws by Gladstone making the score 59-57 with 3:59 left.
Washington had a number of opportunities to tie or take the lead as the Bullets committed two turnovers and missed two free throws inside the final 2:01. The Shoremen were unable to convert, missing their final five attempts from the floor, including a last-second trey by Dave Knox that spun around the rim and out.
Gettysburg finished 24-of-46 (52.2 percent) from the floor, while holding Washington to 21-of-57 (36.8 percent). The Bullets out-rebounded the Shoremen 36-27.
Gladstone missed only one of his seven shot attempts and canned 5-of-7 free throws. He also dished out four assists. Christ finished with his first career double-double with 15 points and a career-high 10 rebounds. Kirkpatrick tallied nine points and five boards, while Gordon filled the stat sheet with seven points, seven assists, and six boards.
Brooks paced Washington with 17 points, five assists, and four steals. Sean Flanigan picked up 10 points and Weston posted nine points.
Gettysburg hosts Messiah College in a non-conference tilt on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m.
