GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College men's and women's swimming teams will take aim at their fourth-straight Centennial Conference (CC) titles this weekend when they travel to Franklin & Marshall College for the 2014 CC Championships. The three-day event will be held from Friday through Sunday at the Kunkel Acquatic Center.

The Bullet men are coming off an undefeated dual-meet season, finishing 9-0 and 6-0 in the Centennial Conference. The women's team went 9-1 and 6-1 in CC competition.

The meet features a trials and finals session each day, beginning with Friday's trials at 11:30 a.m. and concluding with finals on Sunday at 6 p.m.

The men's team, which has won a CC-leading 11 crowns, cruised to its first-place conference finish during the season, winning all but two of its meets by at least 38 points. The Bullets have also established themselves on the national level and held a No. 18 Division III ranking for part of the season. In addition, Gettysburg piled up 10 NCAA Division III Championship-qualifying "B" cuts during the Gettysburg Invitational back on Nov. 22-23.

Prior to the scratch deadline, Gettysburg was seeded first in nine of 18 events, including the 200-medley, 200-freestyle, 400-freestyle, and 800-freestyle relays. In both the 200- and 400-freestyle relays, the Bullets "B" relay team is also seeded second. In addition, Gettysburg owns the top-three seeded swimmers in the 200-freestyle and the top-four seeds in the 100-free.

Individually, junior Jason Potter (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan), the Centennial Conference record-holder in the 100-freestyle,  is the top seed in three events – the 50-freestyle, 100-freestyle, and the 200-freestyle. In addition, junior Mike Harmon (Shippensburg, Pa./home-schooled) is the top seed in both the 200-IM and the 200-backstroke, and he is also second in the 100-backstroke. He owns the conference record in the 200-back and the 200-IM.

Six other Bullets enter the meet seeded among the top-three in their respective events. Junior Ashton Leyens (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin) is second in both the 100- and 200-freestyle and third in the 200-IM, senior Sean Staerk (Abington, Pa./Abington) is second in the 500-freestyle and third in both the 100- and 200-freestyle, sophomore Tyler Gould (Darien, Conn./Darien) is second in the 100-butterfly, junior Stu Cubbison (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Catholic) is third in the 50-freestyle, freshman Josh Kiehl (Clarksburg, Md./Clarksburg) is third in the 500-freestyle, and junior Will Nelligan (Newtown Square, Pa./Haverford School) is third in the 100-breaststroke.

The women's squad, which has won a league-leading 14 CC crowns, enters the meet with six top seeds. Sophomore Lea Candelmo (Oakland, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy), last year's Centennial Conference Championship Women's Most Outstanding Rookie, is first in both the 400-IM and 500-freestyle and third in the 1,650-freestyle.

Also ranked first are senior Ali Roth (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) in the 50-freestyle, sophomore Emily Schmitt (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) in the 200-breaststroke, and freshman Sydney Boswell (Linwood, N.J./Mainland Regional) in the 100-backstroke.
