Eight Gettysburg individuals heading to NCAA championship

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA has announced the swimming field for the 2026 Division III men's and women's swimming and diving championship to be held at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IU Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Ind., on Mar. 18-21 and Gettysburg had eight individuals among those invited.

For the men, sophomores Evan Graham (Crofton, Md./The Key School) and Connor Mangan (Pipersville, Pa./Central Bucks West) will be making their first appearances at the national championship. Both qualified on time in the 200 backstroke while Graham also made the field on time in the 100 backstroke and 400 IM.

On the women's side, senior Mia Morreale (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) was an individual qualifier in the 200 IM and 200 backstroke. The 400 medley and 400 free relay also made it into the meet on time, making the Bullets eligible to swim up to 11 events.
Graham is ranked sixth in the 400 IM after his gold-medal performance at the Centennial Conference (CC) championship on Saturday night. He turned in a program-, conference- and championship-record time of 3:52.45. He also nabbed silver in the 100 backstroke with a program-record time of 47.86 seconds, entering the championship ranked ninth. Graham's highest ranking comes in the 200 backstroke, where he is seeded third with his program-record time of 1:45.57 at the Phoenix Fall Classic hosted by Chicago in November.

Mangan is ranked 10th in the 200 backstroke after his silver-medal performance in that event on Sunday. He turned in a time of 1:46.30. By virtue of being in the field on time, he is also invited to swim in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke. His time of 1:49.59 is ranked 25th in the 200 IM while his time of 48.70 is 20th in the 100 back. Both of those times came at the conference championship last weekend.

Morreale qualified for the field in the 200 IM with a silver medal and program record at the CC championship on Friday night. Her time of 2:03.47 ranks ninth in the NCAA field. On Sunday, she became the first Gettysburg swimmer to break two minutes in the 200 backstroke, winning gold at the conference championship. Her time of 1:59.63 is ranked seventh in the national field. By virtue of being in the field on time, she is also invited to swim the 100 backstroke, where she posted a time of 56.56 at the Gettysburg Invitational on Dec. 6 and enters the championship ranked 37th.

The 400 medley relay qualified 19th on aggregate time. Lanie McKenzie (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington), Maya Knoller (Bernardsville, N.J./Newark Academy), Morgan Puckett (Healdsburg, Calif./Cardinal Newman) and Valerie Lawton (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) combined for a time of 3:48.67.

The 400 free relay qualified 18th, closing out the CC championship with a bronze-medal time of 3:27.32. Delaney Reck (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) joins Morreale, Lawton and Puckett on the qualifying relay.

McKenzie is invited to swim in the 200 IM (31st, 2:05.25), 100 backstroke (34th, 56.47). Lawton is also invited to swim the 100 free (38th, 51.30).
