Butterfield was right behind him with the No. 2 time in program history to finish fourth with a time of 1:50.56, which also would have broken the previous record. Griffin Koester placed seventh (1:53.12) while Max McAlister was ninth (1:54.08).
• Sam Nelson recorded his second fourth-place distance finish, finishing the 1650 free with a time of 16:05.03. John Verosko finished sixth with a time of 16:18.07.
