Bullets Denied at Dickinson

Freshman Lindsay Kraus scores in 3-1 loss

CARLISLE, Pa.  – The Dickinson College field hockey team extended its winning streak to eight games by knocking off visiting Gettysburg College 3-1 on Tuesday.
 
Gettysburg (2-4, 0-2 CC) went on the offensive early with a penalty corner and shot attempt in the game's opening minutes, but Dickinson (8-1, 2-0 CC) came firing back with several offensive moves on its end of the field, forcing freshman goalie Haley Mowery (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Northern) to make a pair of saves.
 
The Red Devils came through with the game's first goal as Amber Dey converted in the ninth minute. After two shots on goal by the Bullets were stopped by Dickinson goalie Emily Fuss, the hosts tacked on another score by Catherine Perlmutter in the 14th minute.
 
Gettysburg turned in more shots on goal than Dickinson in the opening half (5-4), but the Bullets were denied by Fuss on three consecutive scoring opportunities to preserve the 2-0 score heading into the half.
 
Dickinson padded its advantage with a goal by Emilie Arrix in the 49th minute. The Bullets denied Fuss and the Red Devils the shutout as freshman Lindsay Kraus (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll School) scored her second tally of the season at 56:31.
 
Dickinson doubled up Gettysburg in shot attempts (24-12) and held a 9-3 lead in penalty corners.
 
Gettysburg returns home to face Washington College (6-1, 0-1 CC) on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m.
