Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall College outscored Gettysburg 39-15 in the first half and the 20th-ranked Diplomats defeated the Bullets 70-48 in a Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball match-up Tuesday evening.

Sophomore forward Tanner Kirkpatrick (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) posted 11 points and seven rebounds while junior center Kevin Gladstone (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) added eight points to lead the Bullets (11-7, 7-4 CC), who lost for just the second time in their last six games.

Morgan Lee scored 20 points to pace F&M (16-2, 9-2 CC) while Cedric Moune pulled down 17 rebounds. Brandon Federici added 13 points while Devin Figueroa netted 11.

Despite the loss, Gettysburg remains a game in front of McDaniel College for fourth place in the Centennial Conference standings. The Green Terror lost 65-59 at 18th-ranked Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday.

The Diplomats used an early 12-2 run to assume a 12-4 lead following back-to-back 3-pointers with 15:31 left in the half. A Kirkpatrick lay-up with 12:55 on the clock pulled the Bullets to within 16-10; however, that's when Gettysburg went cold offensively. The Bullets managed just a pair of free throws six minutes apart over the next 10 minutes as F&M pulled away with a 19-2 run. Sophomore guard Pete Christ (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) hit a 3-pointer with 1:20 left to make it 37-15 before Figueroa's jumper with 56 seconds showing set the halftime score.

F&M put it out of reach with a 10-0 run early in the second half, pushing its advantage to 52-19 with 14:48 left. The Bullets used a 14-6 run midway through the half to reduce the deficit to 64-35 with 5:34 remaining, and an 11-0 spurt made it 68-48 with 57 seconds to go. Freshman guard Jack Shaffer (State College, Pa./Trinity Christian [Va.]) highlighted the late run with a fastbreak dunk for this first collegiate points.

Gettysburg returns home on Saturday, when it hosts Ursinus College at 2 p.m. in another Centennial Conference affair.
