Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Junior
Laura Bergin (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) posted a double-double and sophomore
Katherine Gilbert (Baltimore, Pa./Notre Dame Prep) recorded 20 digs for the fourth-straight contest in a 3-0 setback at Swarthmore College.
Gettysburg (10-10, 1-3 C) fell to Swarthmore (15-3, 5-0 CC) by scores of 25-22, 25-17, and 25-23. The Garnet ran off four of the final five points to capture the first set and then erased a two-point deficit with a 5-1 run to close out the third contest.
Bergin picked up her seventh double-double of the season with a team-high 17 kills and 18 digs. Sophomore
Maddie Weikert (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) added seven kills.
Gilbert finished with a game-high 24 digs. The sophomore libero has now posted 20 or more digs in each of the last four contests, the longest streak by a Bullet since
Steph Vial '07 logged four-straight 20-dig outings midway through the 2006 campaign. Vial also had a stretch of five consecutive 20-dig performances to start the 2006 season.
Seniors
Alesha Miller (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) and
Hannah Bentz (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) put up 17 and 12 digs, respectively. Sophomore
Stephanie Blair (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) managed 29 assists and nine digs.
Sarah Wallace paced Swarthmore with 14 kills and 17 digs. Olivia Leventhal added a dozen kills and Sam DuBois contributed 38 assists and 15 digs.
Gettysburg travels to Dickinson College on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m.
