Box Score CARLISLE, Pa. – Gettysburg jumped to an early 7-0 lead and held off a late Dickinson rally as the Bullets edged the host Red Devils 10-9 in a Centennial Conference (CC) baseball game Monday afternoon.

The Bullets (17-9, 6-4 CC), who have now won their last four games, led 7-0 after the first two innings and 10-3 at the seventh-inning stretch before Dickinson rallied to post six runs over the seventh and eighth innings. But sophomore
Chase Stopyra (Ocean, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) came on to get the final six outs and pick up his first collegiate save as the Bullets swept the season series from the Devils (10-15-1, 4-5-1 CC).

Aaron Bezio (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) earned the win for Gettysburg, tossing six innings while yielding three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out a career-high seven.

Gettysburg continued to shine offensively. One day after scoring 35 runs on 44 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Ursinus College, the Bullets rapped 14 more hits against Dickinson while eight of nine starters batted safely. Sophomore
Will Anderson (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) led the way, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Sophomore

Andy Kelley (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) stroked two hits apiece while Wright also scored three runs.

Mike DeVivo and Rich Hopkins each finished 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Dickinson, which also registered 14 hits.

Gettysburg scored four in the first inning, then plated three more in the second while chasing starter against starter Christian Acosta (0-3) from the game.

Bezio (1-1) retired his first six batters before the Red Devils plated three runs in the third to make it 7-3. But the Bullets answered with a run in the fourth and two more in the seventh, highlighted by a two-run double from Kelley that gave the Orange and Blue its 10-3 advantage.

Bezio blanked Dickinson over his final three innings before the Devils rallied with two in the seventh against a pair of Gettysburg relievers. The hosts scored two more in the eighth to make it 10-7 before Stopyra was summoned out of the pen with runners on the corners. The Bullets got the second out before Dickinson scored twice more on a single and a sacrifice fly, but Stopyra escaped when he struck out a batter looking.

Dickinson also threatened in the ninth, putting runners on second and third following a one-out double and single. But Stopyra induced a lineout to left and struck out another batter looking to end the game.

Gettysburg concludes its four-day, six-game stretch on Tuesday, when it visits Johns Hopkins University at 3:30 p.m. in a single nine-inning game.
