Box Score 2 GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Junior 
Laura Bergin (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) totaled 37 kills in two matches as the Gettysburg College volleyball pulled off a split on the opening day of the Battlefield Classic on Friday.   
Gettysburg (1-2) opened with a 3-0 (25-10, 25-20, 25-19) victory over Penn State Harrisburg to start the day. The Bullets did not trail in either of the opening sets while connecting on 27 kills against just five errors. The hosts trailed briefly in the third frame before mounting a run to grab a 10-point lead at 18-8. 
Bergin finished with 11 kills and six digs. Senior 
Courtney Morrow (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) tallied eight kills and senior 
Joosje Grevers (Westport, Conn./Staples) posted five kills on seven attempts. 
Sophomore 
Katherine Gilbert (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) paced the defense with 14 digs and posted four aces. Sophomore 
Stephanie Blair (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) dished out 24 assists. 
Messiah out-lasted Gettysburg in four sets 25-18, 20-25, 25-20, and 25-22. The Bullets posted at least a dozen kills in each set with Bergin doing most of the heavy lifting. The junior outside hitter finished the game with 26 kills – the most by a Bullet since 
Nicole Barr '05 posted the same total against Franklin & Marshall College on Oct. 5, 2004. Bergin also contributed seven digs and three block assists. 
Blair turned in a strong game with five kills, 35 assists, and 22 digs. Senior 
Hannah Bentz (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) added 19 digs and seven assists and senior 
Alesha Miller (Hanover, Pa./New Oxford) posted 11 digs. 
Gettysburg begins day two of the tournament against Geneva College on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 10 a.m.
