Pete Christ (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) came within two rebounds and three assists of a triple-double, leading the Gettysburg College men's basketball team to a 79-61 Centennial Conference (CC) victory at Washington College Saturday afternoon.

Christ registered 20 points, eight rebounds, and a career-high seven assists without committing a turnover. He shot 8-for-14, including 3-for-6 from 3-point range.

With the win, the Bullets (14-5, 9-3 CC) pulled into a tie with Swarthmore College for second place in the Centennial Conference standings. Swarthmore lost 62-53 to Johns Hopkins University on Saturday.

Senior center
Kevin Gladstone (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) added 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting for Gettysburg, which bounced back from a pair of losses while completing a sweep of its season series with the Shoremen (3-15, 1-10 CC).

Cody Kiefer (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) contributed 12 points for the Bullets while sophomore forward
Cam Stewart (Sydney, Australia/Newington College) pitched in with 11 points. Junior forward
Tanner Kirkpatrick (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds.

James Drury led Washington with 11 points while Brandon Berry and Tax Dixon scored 10 points apiece.

The Bullets led from start to finish after opening the game on an 11-2 run. Christ scored six points during the early spurt.

Gettysburg's lead reached double figures (14-4) when Stewart connected on a 3-pointer with 13:17 left in the first half, and the Bullets stretched the gap to 16 (25-9) on a Kiefer lay-in with 8:47 showing on the first-half clock. But after leading by as much as 17, the Shoremen closed the half on an 8-0 run to pull to within nine (37-28) at the intermission.

Washington trailed 39-30 with 19:21 left, but after a pair of Gladstone free throws just over a minute later, the Bullets would lead by double figures the rest of the way. Their advantage spiked to 20 (63-43) with 8:24 to go, and Kirkpatrick provided a highlight when he slashed down the lane for a one-handed dunk, putting his team up 21 with 4:17 left.
