GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College volleyball team turned in an efficient day on offense on the way to a sweep of Bryn Mawr College on Saturday inside Bream Gym.
Gettysburg (14-6, 4-2 CC) won with scores of 25-6, 25-12, and 25-8. The Bullets did not make an attack error until the second set and finished with a hitting percentage of .439 in the contest. That was the team's best mark since hitting .441 against Hood College in 2009. Gettysburg also served up a season-high tying 12 aces.
Senior
Laura Bergin (Charlottesville, Va./Western Albemarle) continued her streak of double-figure kill outings with 10. Bergin has recorded 12-straight double-digit kill efforts this fall. Freshmen
Shannon Fletcher (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park),
Francesca Garison (Metuchen, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial), and
Kasey Higgins (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) each recorded five kills while managing a combined attack percentage of .625. Junior
Lauren Godshalk (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) was perfect with kills on all four of her attack attempts.
After being sidelined with an injury for most of the season, sophomore
Rachel Gombatz (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) made the most of her playing time with a season-high 17 assists. Junior
Stephanie Blair (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) tallied 13 assists, three aces, and five digs.
Freshman
Melissa Tringali (Cold Spring, N.Y./Haldane) led the team with nine digs and served up three aces. Fellow first-year
Caroline Sequeira (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) contributed seven digs and a trio of aces.
