Dickinson Tops Men’s Hoops

Gladstone Scores 16 Points

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Dickinson College outscored Gettysburg 52-34 in the second half and the Red Devils handed the Bullets a 78-61 setback in Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball action Wednesday evening in Bream Gym.
 
Gettysburg (15-7, 10-5 CC) led 27-26 at halftime before Dickinson (10-12, 9-6 CC) heated up in the second stanza, when it shot 66.7 percent from the field while going 8-for-13 from 3-point range.
 
Senior center Kevin Gladstone (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Bullets, who remain in third place in the Centennial Conference standings with three games remaining. Junior forward Cody Kiefer (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) added 13 points, seven rebounds, and five assists while junior guard Pete Christ (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) contributed 13 points for Gettysburg, which split its season series with the Red Devils.
 
Ted Hinnenkamp scored 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting to lead Dickinson (10-12, 9-6 CC), which pulled to within a game of the Bullets in the conference standings. Moses Romocki netted 20 points off the bench for the Devils.
 
Gettysburg outscored Dickinson 14-8 to start the game, but a 15-4 run over the next 10 minutes gave the visitors a 25-20 lead with 3:28 left in the opening period. But the Bullets closed the period on a 7-1 spurt, and a put-back from Kiefer with 2:16 left turned out to be the final points of the half.
 
A 3-pointer from Christ and a lay-up from Gladstone pushed Gettysburg's lead back to six less than a minute into the second half. The Bullets would go up by six on two more occasions, and a 3-pointer from sophomore guard Alex Kaslander (Verona, N.J./Verona) made it 44-40 with 14:19 left. But Dickinson answered with a 15-3 run over the next 4:22 to take the lead for good.
 
A pair of Kiefer free throws pulled the Bullets to within six (55-49) with 9:13 showing, but that's when the Red Devils pulled away with a 16-4 run, going up 71-53 with 3:26 left.
 
The Bullets return to action on Saturday, when they host Centennial Conference foe Ursinus College at 2 p.m. on Senior Day.
