Steve Wright (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) finished 4-for-7 with four runs and six RBIs, leading the Gettysburg College baseball team to a sweep of Rivier University on the opening day of the team's Spring Break trip to Florida on Sunday.

The Bullets, who improved to 3-0 for the first time since 2008, won the opener 12-0 before capturing the nightcap 11-6.

Power (2-0) tossed his second career shutout with one of the most efficient performances of his career. He struck out a career-high 12 – the most by a Bullet since Ryan Taylor '13 also fanned 12 in a 7-1 win at Muhlenberg College on April 20, 2013. He did not walk a batter and faced just three batters over the minimum.

Eric Brown (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) earned the victory on the mound in the nightcap while classmate
Aaron Bezio (Stafford, Va./Mountain View) struck out all four batters he faced to earn the save.
Over the first three games of his career as a position player, Lawrence is hitting .750 (9-for-12).

The Bullets swung a hot bat right from the start, scoring nine runs over the first two innings of the opener. Wright got things started with a two-run double, kicking off a five-run first that included RBIs from senior
Shawn Moffitt (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East), senior
Henry Klimowicz (Allenhurst, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy), and sophomore
Logan Sneed (Newtown, Pa./Germantown Academy).

Steve Wright was 3-for-4 with five RBIs in the opener versus Rivier.Wright broke it open in the second with a three-run triple, and a Moffitt sacrifice fly made it 9-0.

The Bullets tacked on three more runs over the fourth and fifth innings. Lawrence and sophomore
Chuck Probst (North Bend, Pa./Bucktail) and each drove in a run in the fourth before Sneed capped the scoring with an RBI in the fifth.

In the meantime, Power was in command from start to finish. After allowing a two-out double in the first, he retired 14 in a row before a pair of Raiders singled in the sixth. After escaping with a groundout, Power finished off his gem in style, fanning the side in the seventh.

Wright finished 3-for-4 with three runs and five RBIs in the opener while Lawrence went 3-for-4. Â

The Bullets continued their offensive fireworks in the second game, outscoring Rivier 8-0 over the first four innings. They scored two in the first on an RBI-double from senior
Andy Kelley (Newtown, Conn./Newtown) and a sacrifice fly from Wright, then pushed across two more runs on a pair of wild pitches in the third to make it 4-0.

Gettysburg added four more runs in the fourth, which was aided by two errors, a passed ball, and another wild pitch. Moffitt capped the inning with an RBI-single.

The Raiders climbed back into it with a three-run fifth, but the Bullets restored their eight-run lead (11-3) with three runs of their own in the bottom of the inning.

Rivier added three more in the sixth versus Brown and freshman reliever
Will Wortmann (Bedford, N.Y./Fox Lane), but Bezio prevented further damage when he struck out a batter with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Bezio went on to fan the side in the seventh to earn his third collegiate save and the first since his freshman campaign.

Lawrence finished 3-for-3 with three runs in the nightcap while Moffitt went 2-for-3. Brown (1-0) worked 5 1/3 innings, striking out five while allowing six runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks.

Gettysburg continues its 10-game, seven-day trip on Monday, when it faces Hiram College at noon and Finlandia University at 3 p.m.
