Box Score 2 CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Gettysburg College baseball team won the first game 6-4 and earned a doubleheader split at Centennial Conference foe Washington College on Saturday.

Luke Lawrence (West Chester, Pa./West Chester East) finished 4-for-7 for the day to lead the Bullets (19-11, 5-3 CC), who lost the nightcap 12-2.

The back-and-forth opener featured two ties and two lead changes before the Bullets broke open a 4-4 tie with a two-run ninth. Junior
John Convery (Media, Pa./Penncrest) reached on an error leading off and was bunted to second by Lawrence. Sophomore
Logan Sneed (Newtown, Pa./Germantown Academy) then doubled in the go-ahead run before scoring on another two-bagger from senior
Henry Klimowicz (Allenhurst, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy).

Junior
Eric Brown (Marriottsville, Md./Marriotts Ridge) started on the mound for the Bullets and received a no-decision, yielding three runs (two earned) on eight hits while striking out three. Freshman
Will Wortmann (Bedford, N.Y./Fox Lane) tossed a pair of innings to his first collegiate victory, allowing one run on three hits while striking out two.

After the Shoremen led off the ninth with a single and a walk, Wortmann (1-1) was replaced by junior
Aaron Bezio (Stafford, Va./Mountain View), who retired three straight batters to collect his third save of the year and his second in three games.

Lawrence went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs in the opener while Klimowicz and junior
Connor Tom (Reinholds, Pa./Conrad Weiser) collected two hits apiece.

In the nightcap, Washington (18-7-1, 2-4 CC) broke the game open with a six-run, seven-hit fourth, then scored three more in the fifth to make it a 10-0 game. The Bullets got on the scoreboard with single runs in the eighth and ninth.

Jack Seibert (Yardley, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) finished 2-for-2 for the Bullets, collecting his first two collegiate hits. Senior
Steve Wright (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) singled to stretch his hitting streak to 15 games.

Jonathan Lucido (Woodstock, Md./St. Paul's) pitched three innings, allowing five runs on seven hits. Four additional pitchers saw action for the Gettysburg, including freshman
Matt Ainsworth (Rockville, Md./Thomas S. Wootton), who tossed one scoreless inning.
